The Cure made alternative music before alternative music was a thing. Lead singer, and only continuous band member, Robert Smith, at 64, has the crazy hair and black eyeliner of your average Emo kid. That said, his emotional depth is a bit more profound.
He writes songs about hearbreak just as easily as he writes songs about falling in love. In “Just Like Heaven” he proves the tried and true theory that specificity in your story leads to universality in your readers’ love and understanding of said story.
It’s just good writing, folks.
