Listen, I know very little about Macklemore other than he had a hit about thrift store shopping a few years ago. His music, for the most part, is not for me. This song though, featuring Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz, and the always impressive Eric Nally (lead singer of Foxy Shazam — a band you’ll read more about from me soon), is a straight up banger.
I do not want to hear about Macklemore’s weird mix of humility and hubris. I do not want to hear about his politics. I do not want to hear about his successes and failures as an artist. I only want to sing along to this unapologetically ridiculous song. Thanks. That is all.
