“Even A Miracle Needs A Hand,” released in 2019
In 1974, Rankin and Bass released the animated special “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” about a town Santa Claus abandons when someone prints a letter in the local paper saying that Santa is bullshit. Naturally, Santa is angered by this.
The town is in a tizzy. So a mouse family and a smarmy little boy (perhaps the letter writing culprit) join forces to get everyone back into Santa’s good graces.
“Even a Miracle Needs a Hand” is the upbeat song they sing when they are fixing a broken clock. Did I not mention there is a broken clock for some reason?
Anyway, Sonntag’s version of this song is just ethereal and creepy enough to be more appropriate than the version in the original show.
