“Christmas in Hollis” by Run-D.M.C.

“Christmas in Hollis” from the album A Very Special Christmas, released in 1987

Ah, Christmas 1987, what a time to be alive. Your boy, AE, was 10. He wanted nothing more than Omega Supreme for Christmas and he was moving into his very first house without wheels.

To say my experience was significantly different from Run-D.M.C’s isn’t quite strong enough. But when a song is as good as “Christmas in Hollis,” that doesn’t matter. A banger straight out of the box, Run-D.M.C. hits the ground running with a tale about seeing Santa at the park, hanging out with the family, and enjoying that yuletide time of year.

When a song is this pure, it lasts forever.

See what else I’ve placed on Project 365 here.
