While the term “white trash” leaves something to be desired for several reasons — not the least of which being that I can remember being referred to as such when I was a boy — this song goes hard.
I enjoy the way Everlast marries a bluesy, country sound with hip hop stylings. I always have. He is another storyteller too, so this song, about a young, poor couple about to have a baby not only critiques society but entertains as well. It is didactic in all the right ways.
And a straight banger.
