“Never Been to Spain” from the album Harmony, released in 1971

Three Dog Night, a band that weirdly has seven members, released several bangers in their career. “Never Been to Spain” is my favorite. Although “Shambala” comes pretty damn close.

Anyway, “Never Been to Spain” is all about connections we make to places we’ve never been. This idea is important in the modern age of our forced parasocial interaction with everyone from YouTube stars to politicians to actors, musicians, and athletes. Written by Hoyt Axton (from Gremlins, GenXers), “Never Been to Spain” tells tales of ethereal connections and concrete ones and ultimately decides the concrete ones are better.

Agreed, Hoyt, agreed.

See what else I’ve placed on Project 365 here.
