Project 365 Day #58
“Cocoa Butter Kisses” from the album Acid Rap, released in 2013
This is my favorite song from Acid Rap. That’s saying something because there are a fair few bangers on this album. Rolling Stone agrees with me. Those folks call it one of the 50 best albums of 2013. So, you know, that’s something.
Anyway, “Cocoa Butter Kisses” is not only a good example of Chance, Mensa, and Twista’s skills, but it unabashedly explains that a mother’s love is worth more than drugs, drinks, sex, and parties that can — and oftentimes do — become regular occurrences in the lives of young men.
I can appreciate a song that explores a man’s emotional needs, especially when Twista drops a verse.
