Project 365 Day #9
“Blaze of Glory” from the album Blaze of Glory, released in 1990
I have always loved cowboy stuff. Movies, books, television shows, you name it, I’m here for it. In fact, when I was in, like, sixth grade, I spent a fair amount of time reading Louis L’Amour (Haunted Mesa is a particular favorite). So, you can imagine how I felt in 1990 when Jon Bon-Freaking-Jovi released his first solo studio album and it was basically the soundtrack for Young Guns II.
When I first played the tape — yes tape — I was not expecting Emilio Estevez as Billy the Kid saying, “Yoo-hoo, I’ll make you famous,” before the sound of gunfire opened up the album. I almost dropped my generic Walkman.
Then I listened and I rocked out, especially to “Blaze of Glory.”
As you do.
